Breaking Boundaries ~ Celebrating International Women's Day

To celebrate the power of women this International Women’s Day, we sat down with three amazing women close to our hearts at Tigerlily to discover what inspires them to break boundaries and follow their pursuit of passion without fear.

International Women's Day

Sally Tullett

A mover and shaker, our CEO Sally Tullett is a fearless business woman and mother of four. This wonder woman proves that you can have it all, mastering the balancing act of running a company and raising a family.

What inspires you to break boundaries as a woman?

I feel very fortunate to have never felt lesser as a woman than my male counterparts and I’m well aware that I’m in the minority that can say that. I’m constantly inspired by the incredible women I’m surrounded by – my friends, my colleagues, my daughters – I feel that together we can break the boundaries for marginalised women and girls that are less fortunate than we are.

What's the one piece of advice you never got — that you wish you had?

Always say what’s on your mind and follow your gut – I learnt the hard way that saying nothing and going against my instinct was more often than not the path I should not have chosen...

“Nothing is impossible. The word itself says, "I'm possible.

- Audrey Hepburn

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.”

- Dr. Seuss

Charlie De Haas

Our neighbour at Tigerlily HQ, entrepreneur Charlie De Haas started out delivering handmade protein balls via bike. Flash forward to The Clean Treats Factory, Charlie's dream turned reality. She continues to break boundaries and build her wellness empire.

What inspires you to break boundaries as a woman?

I feel that if someone can do it, I can. I am in the manufacturing world, why does that have to be a mans world? In fact my love, care and passion about what I am doing makes me just as qualified as anyone else.

We need to break the boundaries of male vs female.

When we each do what we love, mixed with passion, work ethic and resilience... we can break any boundaries or what I refer to as our 'own glass ceilings' (Anthony Robbins).

What's the one piece of advice you never received — that you wish you had?

It's ok to ask for help. You don't have to have all the answers all the time, the bigger the #ballgame, the bigger the risk. I'm not reinventing the wheel so how can I take on previous experiences and learnings and adapt them to what I need? Asking for help doesn't make me weak or any less capable, in fact it uses my vulnerability as a strength.

Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

- Mother Theresa

I read it as... just do something, anything (it) with love and that's more than enough.
