Spicewood Muse ~ Mimi Elashiry
Inspired by a muse we actualized... a free spirited, slightly rebellious artistic soul who has distinct eclectic style…
Meet Mimi... our first Spicewood muse...
We invited Mimi Elashiry to be photographed by the talented Josie Clough and give her take on how to wear the Tigerlily Spicewood collection. Dancer, photographer, activist, designer and the ultimate influencer, Mimi’s creative, free-spirited nature and eclectic style has us lusting over new favourites...
My favourite beaches I've discovered & what I love about them ~
M.E. Bondi - Well I live here! So I would be lying if I didn’t say I love it! I’m always here. Mornings spent boxing, running, swimming and it has the best cafe’s.
Castle Rock - The best little hidden spot! Tucked away along the Manly national park walk and there’s an ice cream boat...
Little Wategoes - The best sunset in Byron.
Sarakiniko, Milos, Greece - Well... it’s like you’re on the moon! Glittery white bouldering rocks meet the edge of the turquoise blue Mediterranean Sea.
I love to travel because ~
M.E. I feel like one of the most important things to me in life is to see and experience many of the worlds vast cultures, histories and landscapes. After all it is the world we live in and I love to be out of my comfort zone. On top of that, whilst traveling, I find that I gather creative inspiration.

My Ultimate travel destination is ~
M.E. Egypt! because ~ it’s next on my list! I can’t wait to go visit my grandparents who I haven’t seen since I was last there 12 years ago! I’m excited to go wandering around the temples and historical sites.

My favourite music festival is... ~
M.E. Hmm that’s a hard one... I have been to a lot over the last few years and they have all been so different, from the watery wonderlands of Symbiosis to the dusty dance floors of Burning Man. Out of this world art installations to mind boggling sound systems. Every festival has its own charm. For the minute, I’m going to count Burning Man out as a ‘music festival’ and I would have to say on an international scale, Glastonbury takes the cake with it’s real effort to include something for everyone. Healing fields, winding forrest’s, trap doors, flame throwing stages, workshops and delicious foods are just a few of its many facets. I’m currently en route to Rainbow Serpent Festival in Victoria so I’ll have to report back. So far the vibe, music, silliness and swimming of Subsonic wins in Aus.
My health and fitness mantra is ~
M.E. I swear by a whole foods diet. Foods in their whole and natural state, cooked however you like. I don’t consume any processed foods or refined sugars. I no longer have any other dietary requirements, as I travel so much and love to enjoy the foods of different cultures without having to be restricted.
I grew up dancing almost every day, so for me it’s very important to just get up and moving on the daily. Weather it’s dancing, walking, running, yoga, swimming laps at icebergs, boxing or going to the gym. I like to change it up to keep myself motivated. That being said, I have a few favorite YouTube workouts that I like to do every day.

The Spicewood pieces I loved at the Tigerlily photoshoot were ~
M.E. The red and white stripe Elissa bikini, the wrap white aztec print hand loom Driftwood skirt, the Presidio knit blue bodycon dress and the olive green Sierra terry bikini.
You styled yourself for the shoot. Tell us about how you styled the looks and how you worked in vintage pieces from your own wardrobe ~
M.E. Tigerlily pieces speak for themselves with all the gorgeous prints and embellishments on swimsuits so I didn’t need to do much at all! I styled it with my own favourite jewellery, in particular an amber necklace I got on my travels in Morocco and my favourite Pamela love skull necklace. A few Lack of Colour hats were in the mix too. I love a headscarf which I use in many ways. As a belt, top, hair tie- you name it!
Mimi wears the Sedona Top available instore, online soon & the Zapata Paranga Bikini Bottom
Tell us about your creative outlets and inspirations ~
M.E. At the moment, my newest creative venture is film photography - as 35mimimeter.
But my number 1 inspiration and outlet is Dancing. I love the freedom I feel when I move and the emotional and creative release. I also paint sometimes but just for fun. Mixing colours and splashing them about feels very meditative. I also enjoy drawing a lot of designs for dresses and clothing, just for fun :)
What projects are you working on for 2018 ~
M.E. I’m the ambassador for PLAN International. A children’s organisation currently focusing on young women and discrimination. I’m also working creatively alongside Adidas to create anencephaly curate content for them throughout the year. After 3 years of traveling and living abroad, this year I’m focusing on getting grounded, feeling close to home and spending time with my family and close friends.
My style is ~
M.E. Eclectic. I gather bits and pieces of traditional accessories from different cultures for example Navajo jewelry and Indian scarves and tie these in with my favourite Australian and international labels. I’m also obsessed with early-mid 1900’s women’s fashion and so my vintage collection spans all decades.
