Our Land Abound; At Home

We are 100% committed to making educated change towards better practices and conditions for the industry we love so much.Ethical sourcing and sustainability have become an integral part of who we are as a brand.

Our Culture

At Tigerlily we embrace men and women from all cultures and walks of life. We find that like-minded people gravitate towards the brand and we are blessed to have an incredible team who embody what Tigerlily is about. We continue to stimulate and motivate our team through training, travel and a vast variety of techniques that keep our team well-rounded and engaged. We are big on a work-life balance and our team are always encouraged to make the most of life around them. Our processes are fluid, inspiring and captivating. It takes all hands on deck to make Tigerlily what it is today and we are forever thankful.

From inception to final design, the journey of a Tigerlily piece is a lengthy one, passing through many hands, hearts and minds.

Habitats

Our habitats range from 25m2 to 90m2 and allow us to display all the products we design. We do not create anything that we cannot fit into our stores, ensuring our ‘design to fixture’ strategy not only reduces wastage, but means we are not over-producing for the sake of it.

Our retail stores feature bespoke design elements inspired by our travels, like recycled, quality timbers for our doors and tables built to last. We switched to more energy efficient LED lighting over 5 years ago to conserve approximately 40% more energy than standard shop lighting. We decorate our stores with an array of 2 ndhand and antique artefacts that we rotate between our habitats. By limiting the ‘pre-fabricated’ elements within each store design, we can sustainably update our habitats with minimal waste of building materials and decorations.

Our habitats are full of antique treasures and our left over printed fabrics adorn cushions, curtains and throws.

HQ

At our HQ in Sydney, we have recently appointed an office sustainability committee that guide the entire team to engage in more environmentally friendly practices daily. We are avid recyclers at Tigerlily HQ and recognise the need to reduce the amount of paper we use on a day to day basis, always shredding and recycling any paper waste. We are even conscious of the amount of packaging we use – all of us bring our own packed lunches (most days)! Coffee keep cups are also a must-have!

Our Commitment

Tigerlily is committed to ethical business practices but admittedly we have much work to do. The demands of this will change and evolve as we continue to delve deeper into our supply chain sources, review new technologies and refine production processes.

In the past 2 years, we have actively taken part in Australian fashion industry forums with Australian NGO’s Fashion Revolution, Baptist World Aid and Stop the Traffik. We believe in working together as an industry to progress towards greater change.

In the 2017 ‘Behind the Barcode’ Australian Ethical Fashion report, we scored a C+. While this is an improvement on last year’s ‘C’, we are already focusing on areas to improve for 2018.

As we grow globally, our commitment continues, especially with a focus for the next 12 months on two main areas; worker empowerment and to gain further confidence with our printing methods and sustainability of our fabrications.
